Eri-Kato

Japanese artist, Eri Kato, has had many shows in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Tamanashi, Berlin, London and more. She uses mainly paper, paper folding, and cuts as well as cardboard and wood in her sculptures.

With her works, Eri Kato takes us on a tour inside these rich textures so we can traverse dimension, substance, and light from various angles. Through cutting, twisting, tearing, and taking apart, the different materials reveal hidden perspectives and offer us a glance into what would otherwise be considered empty space.

Her miniature “drawings” use sweet boxes and packaging, folding them into unusual forms in an artistic play. Large installations create new fantasy worlds to explore.
